The IVSA Norway chapter
currently consists of around 100 members, all veterinary students
at the Norwegian School of Veterinary Science. We arrange
international exchanges, maintain and establish new intenational
contacts and arrange social activities for members. During summer
2012 we will hoste the 61st IVSA congress!
IVSA stands for International Veterinary Students' Association. The organization was founded in 1951, and has member chapters from over 50 countries world vide. The mission of IVSA is to benefit the animals and people of the world by harnessing the potential and dedication of veterinary students to promote the international application of veterinary skills, education and knowledge. The way in which this is achieved is by arranging annual meetings (congresses and symposia), running permanent projects, facilitating exchanges and publishing a quarterly newsletter.
IVSA also cooperates with FAO, CMS and other international organisations
We are a none-profit organization run by volunteer veterinary students from across the globe. We aim to improve the international standard of veterinary education through the exchange of ideas, knowledge and culture. What does IVSA do?
- Group exchanges - between countries
- Individual exchanges - students have the opportunity to work with foreignveterinarians for 2-6 weeks.
- Work with professional veterinary health care
- Congresses and
Symposia
Annual congresses and symposia allow students to discuss issues related to IVSA, participate in workshops, tours and cultural events and walk away with unforgettable memories and many new friends. IVSA helps to expand the worldwide collaboration of students, enriching their student experience and improving their skills as future veterinarians. - Scholarship Fund
The aim of the Scholarship Fund is to finance disadvantaged veterinary students, allowing them to see practice through the IVSA exchange program or attend IVSA Congress/Symposium. - Development Fund
The aim of the Development Fund is to assist veterinary education in disadvantagedcountries. Receipt of a Development Fund grant automatically entitles the recipient to membership of the IVSA for that financial year. Over the years the Development Fund has helped thousands of students through donations of books and equipment. - Animal Welfare
Committee
One of the keystones of IVSA is to help and benefit animals. We have a committee that works on projects to achieve this goal. With a global organization like IVSA we hope to reach as many students as possible and spread the awareness of problems, projects and opportunities throughout the world.
